Powwow

The "Grand Entry" at a powwow for the Dakota Sioux tribe, in Central Minnesota, summer of 2005.

The compression on this one is really severe, because there's so much detail and color - the images have become almost abstract. That's not necessarily a bad thing, I guess, but the original footage is pretty breathtaking.

got me looking up, so, now i know: the name Sioux derives from the Chippeway word "Nadowessioux" which means "Snake" or "Enemy". However, the Sioux generally call themselves Lakota or Dakota, meaning "friends, allies, or to be friendly."
..and how a Pow Wow begins, and why the flags..
oh, Dakota Fanning is a good name, someone recently told me he was reminded of me by her..
