Shot with a primitive, hand-made "pinhole" 16mm camera - no lens, no motor, pretty much nothing but raw film on a spool, in a box.
Made as part of the Wilderness Filmmaking Expedition, at the Handmade Film Institute, in Colorado in the summer of 2008.

We should talk about that. It's one of the most compelling footage i've seen this (already ending) year. So raw, so "natural", uncorrupted.
I'm glad you shot flowers and mountains. It's like the Chuang Tsu dream about the butterfly who dreams he is an Emperor. Had Chuang Tsu dreamt he was a typewriter (Borges idea), there would have been nothing in it. The metaphoric bond between the subject and the method makes it all work ; but i'm not going to teach *you* that.

wow. terrifyingly beautiful and brainsplitting in a life-passing-before-your-eyes flashback kind of way. i'm reminded of original outer limits episodes, solaris, 1 million b.c. and the intensity of sunlight you feel on an airplane. and for some reason, a funeral.
